A significant data exposure has reportedly left nearly a million passports and various photo identification documents vulnerable on the public internet.
Among the exposed sensitive information were passports belonging to individuals from countries such as Germany and Spain, as well as driver's licenses. These documents were directly accessible to anyone with the correct public URL.
The compromised data was reportedly stored without any protective measures, lacking passwords or other forms of access control. This meant that the documents could be viewed freely by simply navigating to their public web addresses.
Sammy Azdoufal expressed concerns regarding the breach, stating, "We have to do something about it as fast as possible, because people will find this and resell it. It will do damage."
According to The Verge, this exposure highlights significant security risks for personal identity information.
