Sony has announced the launch of preorders for its first official fight stick, the PlayStation FlexStrike. Priced at $200, the wireless controller is set to release on August 6. It is compatible with both PlayStation 5 and PC, designed for portability for fighting game players.
The FlexStrike features an eight-button layout and a joystick. Its black and white color scheme matches the aesthetic of the PS5 console and other official peripherals. Sony describes the design as "sturdy" and "ergonomic," aiming for comfort during gameplay. Users can swap between three different joystick movement gates—square, circle, or octagon—without requiring additional tools. A built-in compartment stores extra restrictor gates and the included PS Link USB adapter.
The controller utilizes PlayStation Link wireless connection. This technology enables features such as pairing a wireless PlayStation Pulse headset or earbuds for simultaneous, lag-free audio. It also allows for two FlexStrike fight sticks to connect to a single PS5 simultaneously, facilitating local multiplayer.
The main eight face buttons (Cross, Circle, Square, Triangle, R1, R2, L1, and L2) use mechanical switches. The fight stick also includes standard inputs found on the PS5's DualSense controller, such as the PS Button, Share Button, PlayStation Link Button, L3 Button, R3 Button, Touch Pad, and Options Button. Additional features include a Lever Mode Switch for joystick operation and a Lock Button. The PS Button can also be used to wake the PS5 from sleep mode. A sling carry case will be included with the FlexStrike.
In addition to the FlexStrike, Sony is also launching a new 27-inch gaming monitor and Pulse Elevate wireless speakers. The 1440p 120Hz gaming monitor, which includes a DualSense controller cradle, is priced at $350, with preorders opening on June 5. A preorder date for the Pulse Elevate wireless speakers, designed to complement the display, will be announced later.
