Real Madrid Ends Pursuit of Julian Alvarez After Atletico Rejection
Real Madrid has reportedly ceased its pursuit of striker Julian Alvarez after Atletico Madrid rejected an offer of €150 million. Atletico Madrid indicated that a deal would only be possible if Alvarez's €500 million release clause was paid, refusing any negotiations. The decision by Real Madrid to move on was also influenced by a reported breakdown in communication between club bosses and the player's representatives.
Real Madrid has ended its efforts to sign Argentine striker Julian Alvarez this summer. The decision follows Atletico Madrid's rejection of Real Madrid's €150 million offer earlier this week.
Atletico Madrid firmly stated that they would not negotiate for Alvarez, indicating that his transfer would only occur if his €500 million release clause was met. This stance, coupled with a reported breakdown in relations between Real Madrid officials and Alvarez's representatives, led Real Madrid to redirect their transfer focus.
Alvarez is reportedly keen to leave Atletico Madrid this summer and prefers a move to Barcelona. Barcelona had previously made a €100 million offer for the striker, which came before Real Madrid's higher bid. However, Real Madrid's rejected €150 million offer may complicate Barcelona's pursuit, as they are considered unlikely to match an amount already turned down by Atletico.
With €150 million now available for other targets, Real Madrid is expected to explore alternative options. Michael Olise, another attacker previously on Real Madrid's radar, is reportedly also a target Bayern Munich is unwilling to sell.
According to Yahoo Sports Soccer, Real Madrid and president Florentino Perez will now turn their attention elsewhere following these developments.
