Salman Khan Sues 'Kala Hiran' Makers Over Personality Rights in Delhi High Court
Bollywood actor Salman Khan has reportedly filed a lawsuit in the Delhi High Court against the makers of the upcoming film 'Kala Hiran: Battle of Legacy', citing alleged violation of his personality and publicity rights. The legal action follows social media discussions pointing out similarities between the film's first-look poster and Khan's public image, including an alleged resemblance to his signature bracelet and the long-running blackbuck case. Khan's legal team seeks an immediate halt to the film's production, release, and promotion. Producer Amit Jani has denied the film is based on Khan, stating it draws inspiration from the blackbuck case court proceedings and the Bishnoi community, also alleging threats from Khan's fans.

Bollywood actor Salman Khan has reportedly moved the Delhi High Court against the creators of the upcoming film 'Kala Hiran: Battle of Legacy'. The lawsuit centers on alleged violations of Khan's personality and publicity rights, seeking legal intervention against the filmmakers.
The dispute emerged after the release of the film's first-look poster, which generated discussion on social media. Users reportedly noted similarities between the character in the poster and Salman Khan, specifically mentioning aspects such as styling, posture, and a bracelet believed to resemble the actor's signature accessory. Khan's legal team has reportedly argued that no character in the film should be based on or inspired by him without proper authorization.
His legal representatives are seeking protection of Khan's personality and publicity rights, which aim to prevent the unauthorized commercial use of a public figure's identity, image, or likeness. The legal notice reportedly also references the ongoing blackbuck case involving the actor. Khan's team argues that any cinematic portrayal drawing inspiration from this case could potentially influence public perception, affect the legal process, and harm the actor’s reputation.
As part of his plea, Khan has reportedly requested an immediate stay on the production, release, and promotion of 'Kala Hiran: Battle of Legacy'. This includes a demand to restrain the makers from circulating promotional content, such as posters, teasers, trailers, and other marketing materials, until the matter is resolved.
In response to the controversy, producer Amit Jani publicly stated via social media that the film is not based on Salman Khan. Jani maintained that the project is inspired by the court proceedings surrounding the blackbuck case and the Bishnoi community. He also shared a video statement alleging that he had received threats from individuals claiming to be Salman Khan fans, though there has been no official comment from the actor regarding these allegations.
The film, directed by Bharat S. Shrinate and produced by Amit Jani under Firefox Media Private Limited, is now subject to legal proceedings that could impact its future. (Source: Bollywood Hungama)
