Samsung's Upcoming Wide Fold May Feature Thicker Internal Display Glass
A new report suggests Samsung's upcoming "Wide Fold" foldable smartphone could come equipped with significantly thicker internal display glass. This design choice, potentially utilizing 60-micrometer glass compared to the regular Galaxy Z Fold 8's reported 45-micrometer glass, aims to reduce the prominent crease often found in folding phone screens. The device is expected to be officially announced next month.

Samsung's forthcoming "Wide Fold" foldable smartphone is reportedly set to introduce significantly thicker internal display glass, a move that could address a common issue with current foldable technology: the screen crease.
According to a recent report by ZDNET Korea, the passport-style Galaxy Wide Fold will utilize 60-micrometer-thick glass for its internal display. This marks an increase from the reported 45-micrometer thickness expected for the internal display glass of the regular Galaxy Z Fold 8.
While thicker glass for a folding display presents engineering challenges, it is also anticipated to result in a less prominent crease down the middle of the inner screen, offering a smoother user experience.
The "Wide Fold" is expected to be officially announced next month.
