Swansea City Set to Appoint Ben Stevens as Sporting Director
Swansea City is reportedly set to appoint Ben Stevens, Crystal Palace's assistant sporting director, as their new sporting director. Stevens has served as assistant sporting director at Crystal Palace since 2024 and previously spent a decade as the Premier League club's head of performance and recruitment analysis. This appointment follows the departure of Swansea's director of football, Richard Montague, last September, and former head of recruitment and analytics, Adam Worth, in April.
Swansea City is expected to appoint Ben Stevens as the club's new sporting director. Stevens currently holds the position of assistant sporting director at Crystal Palace.
Stevens joined Crystal Palace as assistant sporting director in 2024. Prior to this role, he dedicated ten years to the Premier League club as their head of performance and recruitment analysis. During his tenure at Palace, Stevens worked under former sporting director Dougie Freedman and temporarily assumed Freedman's responsibilities when he moved to Saudi Arabian club Al-Diriyah last year.
The search for a new sporting director at Swansea City began after Richard Montague, who served as director of football, left the Championship club last September, just seven months after his appointment. Adam Worth, the former head of recruitment and analytics, also departed in April of this year. Although Stevens' title will be different, his responsibilities are anticipated to be similar to those previously held by Montague.
Swansea City concluded the 2025-26 season by finishing in 11th place in the Championship.
