Woman Dies in Brazil Rope Jump After Being Thrown Without Safety Harness
A 21-year-old woman, Maria Eduarda Rodrigues de Freitas, died in Brazil after two rope jumping instructors reportedly threw her from a bridge without attaching safety equipment. The incident occurred on Saturday at Ponte do Esqueleto, an abandoned bridge in Limeira, São Paulo state, known for extreme sports. Ms. Freitas, who aspired to be a physical education teacher, had requested to be launched in an "airplane style."

Maria Eduarda Rodrigues de Freitas, 21, was reportedly thrown from a 40-meter-high bridge without being secured by safety equipment, resulting in her death during a rope jumping activity in Brazil.
The incident took place on Saturday at Ponte do Esqueleto, an abandoned bridge located in the municipality of Limeira, São Paulo state. This site is known for attracting tourists who participate in extreme sports such as rope jumping.
Reports indicate that two instructors launched Ms. Freitas from the bridge. She had reportedly requested to be launched "airplane style," a maneuver where instructors hoist an individual above their shoulders while they spread their arms.
Ms. Freitas, who had aspirations of becoming a physical education teacher, was subsequently buried in São Paulo state.
According to The Guardian World, the instructors hurled Maria Eduarda Rodrigues de Freitas into a 40-meter abyss without attaching safety equipment.
