AICWA Seeks High-Level Investigation into Actress Sanchita Ugale's Death
The All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) has called for a high-level, transparent investigation into the death of television actress Sanchita Ugale. Ugale, known for her roles in shows like 'Kumkum Bhagya' and 'Wagle Ki Duniya', passed away on June 14 at her residence in Nalasopara East, Maharashtra. Police have registered an Accidental Death Report (ADR) and conducted a post-mortem examination as part of the ongoing inquiry. AICWA President Suresh Shyamlal Gupta urged Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to order a comprehensive probe, emphasizing the need to examine all circumstances and available evidence before conclusions are drawn. The association also called for a dedicated committee to address mental health concerns and deaths within the entertainment industry.

Television actress Sanchita Ugale passed away on June 14 at her residence in Nalasopara East, Maharashtra. Ugale, recognized for her work in television shows such as 'Kumkum Bhagya' and 'Wagle Ki Duniya', was reportedly found at her home in Sai Santoshi Building in Aachole Village and was declared dead on arrival at a nearby hospital.

AICWA President Suresh Shyamlal Gupta issued a statement urging Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to order a comprehensive inquiry. The association stressed that a thorough examination of all angles is warranted before any conclusions are made, noting that questions often remain unanswered in high-profile deaths within the entertainment industry.
In its statement, AICWA expressed grief over the loss of the young actress, highlighting her contributions to television and film projects including 'Silence: The Night Owl Bar Shootout' and 'Chhaava'. The association also referenced a social media post shared by Ugale shortly before her death, reiterating its call for investigators to examine all available evidence and related circumstances.
Beyond the immediate investigation, AICWA appealed to the Maharashtra government to establish a dedicated committee. This committee would be tasked with studying the increasing number of deaths and mental health-related concerns reported within the entertainment industry, as well as reviewing existing support systems for artists and industry workers.
Police officials confirmed that a complaint was filed by Ugale's father, Machhindra Ugale. The Achole Police registered an Accidental Death Report (ADR) under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) on June 15. Authorities have completed the required legal procedures, and a post-mortem examination has been carried out as part of the ongoing inquiry.
