Barcelona Considers Marc Casado and Marcus Rashford Exits Amid Summer Squad Overhaul
Barcelona is reportedly evaluating the futures of midfielder Marc Casado and forward Marcus Rashford as part of its ongoing squad overhaul this summer. While Casado, an academy product, may be sold to generate pure profit, Rashford is expected to return to Manchester United after his loan spell, though Barcelona remains interested in alternative agreements. These potential departures are part of the club's strategy for Hansi Flick's upcoming season.
Barcelona is reportedly assessing potential changes to its squad this summer, with the futures of Marc Casado and Marcus Rashford under review, according to transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano.
Marc Casado, a graduate of Barcelona's La Masia academy, is among the players who could generate significant income for the club. Despite being considered an academy success story, Barcelona reportedly does not have space to guarantee him consistent playing minutes. A sale would represent pure profit from an accounting perspective, making him an attractive asset if a suitable offer emerges. Casado is currently receiving interest from clubs across Europe and Saudi Arabia, with his representative, Jorge Mendes, working to identify the most favorable option.
Marcus Rashford's situation is reportedly more advanced. The England international, who spent the season on loan at Barcelona, had a productive campaign, contributing 14 goals and 14 assists across all competitions. Despite his performance, Barcelona has chosen not to activate the €30 million purchase clause included in his loan agreement with Manchester United. Consequently, Rashford is expected to return to Manchester United once his loan officially concludes.
However, Barcelona is reportedly still interested in Rashford and is exploring alternative arrangements that could make a deal financially viable. One possibility under consideration is negotiating a fresh loan agreement with Manchester United, rather than pursuing a permanent transfer this summer. This would allow Barcelona to retain an experienced attacker without a major upfront investment.
