Commodore, under the ownership of Christian Simpson, has announced the Call Back 8020, a new flip phone designed to block social media applications and web browsers. The company states its philosophy for the device is "where the customer is not the product." This launch is part of a series of new products released since the brand's acquisition approximately a year ago.

The Commodore brand has unveiled a new flip phone, the Call Back 8020. This latest gadget is notable for its design to block access to social media applications and web browsers. The company's stated philosophy for the device is "where the customer is not the product," emphasizing a different user experience. The phone itself features a design described as dated.
This new device represents another step for the Commodore brand since its re-establishment approximately a year ago. Christian “Peri Fractic” Simpson, recognized for his work on the Retro Recipes YouTube channel (now known as Retro Recipes x Commodore), completed the acquisition of the Commodore Corporation. This purchase included "100 percent of the original and official trademarks that defined the Commodore name since 1983," as detailed in a July 2025 press release. The acquisition price was reported by Simpson to be in the "low seven figures."
Prior to the announcement of the Call Back 8020, the revitalized brand had already introduced other products. These include the Commodore 64 Ultimate and the Commodore 64X PC, which is a mini PC encased in a chassis that visually resembles the iconic Commodore 64 desktop computer.
According to Ars Technica, the new flip phone aims to offer a distinct alternative in the mobile device market.
