Dead by Daylight Unveils 10th Anniversary Plans: New Killers, Survivor, Map, and Movie Details
Behaviour Interactive has announced a comprehensive slate of updates and future content for Dead by Daylight as the game celebrates its 10th anniversary. Upcoming additions include new licensed killers Jason Voorhees and Art the Clown, an indigenous survivor named Shane Wiigwaas, and a community-requested mall map. The anniversary stream also revealed new cosmetic collaborations, plans for future game modes, a visual overhaul, and confirmed the director for the Dead by Daylight movie.

Behaviour Interactive has detailed extensive plans for Dead by Daylight's future during its 10th-anniversary stream, introducing a range of new content and updates for the game.
Key announcements include new killers joining the roster. Jason Voorhees is set to arrive on June 16 as a licensed crossover killer, featuring an ability to quickly phase across the map. Executive producer Jose Ramos noted that discussions for Jason's inclusion accelerated following a legal resolution. Art the Clown from the 'Terrifier' series will follow as a licensed crossover in November. Additionally, Frank Stone, a central killer from the upcoming spin-off game 'The Casting of Frank Stone,' will be integrated into Dead by Daylight in 2027. A new community-driven chapter, 'Chorus of Sin,' is scheduled for August 25.
Dead by Daylight will also introduce its first indigenous character, Shane Wiigwaas, on June 25 as part of 'The Life Road' chapter. Creative director Dave Richard stated that Shane was developed in collaboration with a representative of the Anishinaabe tribe.
A new mall map is slated for release soon. Executive producer Jose Ramos explained that a community survey with over 100,000 respondents identified a mall as the most requested map theme, with players also seeking a liminal horror experience.
Further collaborations and cosmetics are on the way, including 'The Walking Dead' outfits for Rick Grimes that transform him into Glenn or Negan. 'Silent Hill' will receive new looks for Cheryl (Shimizu Hinako) and The Spirit (nurse), while 'Scooby-Doo' and 'Diablo' will introduce new cosmetic options. The Huntress killer will also get an 'Iron Maiden'-themed style, and 'Ice Nine Kills' will have its own cosmetics collection.
Looking ahead, Behaviour Interactive plans to introduce new game modes, with a zombie mode and a 1v1 experience being explored as long-term additions, potentially years away. The studio aims to expand Dead by Daylight rather than create a sequel, with modding tools for custom maps and modes expected to debut in 2027.
The game is also slated for a visual overhaul in 2027, which will update character models and map details, potentially affecting PC specifications. Improvements to new player onboarding are also being developed, including a 'gameplay showcase' feature to preview killer abilities in menus.
The previously announced Dead by Daylight movie has confirmed Thordur Palsson ('The Damned') as director. The script will be penned by Alexandre Aja ('High Tension') and David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick ('The Conjuring 2'), both with backgrounds in horror cinema.
According to GameSpot, these announcements cover both short-term releases and long-term developments for the game's future. (Source: GameSpot)
