Dead by Daylight Sequel Not Planned, Developers Prioritize Game Expansion
Behaviour Interactive has confirmed there are no plans for a sequel to its asymmetrical horror multiplayer game, Dead by Daylight, which celebrates its 10th anniversary on June 14. Executive producer Jose Ramos indicated that the studio intends to reinvest resources into the existing live-service title rather than developing a new iteration. Creative director Dave Richard noted that the team aims to expand the current game with new modes and explore other titles within the Dead by Daylight universe, respecting players' time and investment.

Dead by Daylight, the asymmetrical horror multiplayer game, marked its 10th anniversary on June 14. The game has been credited with popularizing the genre and has featured numerous licensed collaborations with horror franchises such as A Nightmare on Elm Street, Ringu, and The Walking Dead.
Ahead of its anniversary celebration, members of the Behaviour Interactive team discussed future plans, including a new liminal-space map, gameplay and visual overhauls, and the introduction of a zombie mode. However, a Dead by Daylight 2 is not currently in development.
Executive producer Jose Ramos stated that while one "never say[s] never about anything," the studio is "confident that the answer is no" regarding a sequel. He explained that efforts are being redirected to "reinvest in the game where it deserves to have strong investment being done," allowing development teams sufficient time to design and build technical foundations. Ramos added that a sequel would likely "play differently" and "feel different," which they aim to avoid, preserving the established player experience.
Creative director Dave Richard further elaborated on the decision, suggesting that the team prefers to add new game modes to the existing Dead by Daylight title or develop entirely new games within the Dead by Daylight universe that are not direct sequels. Richard emphasized the importance of respecting players' dedication, noting that the studio does not want to require them to "buy DBD again, start from scratch, reinvest their time."
Additional announcements regarding Dead by Daylight's future were made during a 10th-anniversary stream.
