Leeds United has reportedly decided against pursuing Brazilian midfielder Douglas Luiz. The club has officially stepped back from its interest in the 28-year-old, who celebrated his birthday in May.
Luiz is currently returning to Juventus following loan spells with Nottingham Forest and Aston Villa. Aston Villa opted not to make his temporary stay permanent, and Juventus is reportedly looking to remove him from their wage bill. Reports also indicate that other English clubs have cooled their interest in the player.
Elland Road officials had been tracking the midfielder for a significant period and reportedly considered a concrete bid last summer. However, a move from West Yorkshire for Luiz is now considered highly unlikely.
While Leeds manager Daniel Farke is reportedly seeking additional midfield players, discussions regarding Luiz have concluded. The club's hierarchy is now focusing on other priority targets.
According to Pete O’Rourke of Football Insider, any sudden move for the Brazilian by Leeds would be a significant surprise.
