Mid-Air Helicopter Collision Kills Six in Rio de Janeiro
A mid-air collision between two helicopters in western Rio de Janeiro on Sunday resulted in the deaths of at least six people, according to firefighters. American singer-songwriter Oliver Tree, who was on a world tour in Brazil, was reportedly aboard one of the crashed aircraft, a police source informed AFP. The incident occurred in the Recreio dos Bandeirantes suburb and led to a fire that engulfed at least 20 vehicles in an electric car dealership's parking lot.

American singer-songwriter Oliver Tree, known for his alternative music and internet presence, was reportedly among those aboard one of the helicopters. A police source, speaking to AFP, indicated that all occupants of that aircraft perished. The source further stated that Tree was listed among the six people on the manifests of the two aircraft. Formal identification of the victims was pending due to severe burns sustained in the crash.
Rio de Janeiro Mayor Eduardo Cavaliere mentioned the presence of "foreign nationals on board one of the aircraft" without providing additional details.
The collision caused the helicopters to crash into the parking lot of an electric car dealership in the Recreio dos Bandeirantes suburb. This impact ignited a fire that subsequently engulfed at least 20 vehicles.
Rescue workers discovered one helicopter ablaze amidst the electric cars, with five victims inside. A second helicopter was found approximately 100 meters away, carrying only its pilot, who also died.
