Obsession Dominates Mumbai Box Office, Expands Theater Screenings
The film "Obsession" continued its strong box office performance into its third week, collecting Rs. 3.50 crores on June 12 and surpassing new releases. Its consistent draw has led Mumbai's iconic Regal Cinema to dedicate all its shows to "Obsession," replacing previously scheduled films. Other theaters across Mumbai have also added the movie, offering it at accessible ticket prices, which experts suggest is broadening its appeal beyond niche audiences.

The film "Obsession" has demonstrated a robust performance at the box office, entering its third week on June 12 with collections of Rs. 3.50 crores. This figure represents an increase over its second Friday collections of Rs. 3.30 crores, hinting at a potential for higher earnings in its third week compared to its second.
"Obsession" has notably outperformed several new releases, including "Haunted – Echoes Of The Past," which collected Rs. 2.72 crores on its 15th day, as well as "Main Vaapas Aaunga," "Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata," "Governor," "Disclosure Day," and "Backrooms."
Recognizing the film's sustained audience interest, theaters are increasing its showtimes. Mumbai's Regal Cinema, a prominent single-screen venue, began screening "Obsession" for the first time since its release on June 12. Initially, it scheduled shows at 1:30 pm and 9:45 pm, while "Main Vaapas Aaunga" and "Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata" occupied the 4:00 pm and 7:15 pm slots, respectively. However, from Saturday, Regal Cinema transitioned to playing "Obsession" across all four of its shows.
Additional theaters such as Mukta A2 Sun City, New Excelsior, and Gold Santacruz also commenced screening "Obsession" from June 12. A trade expert indicated that the film's widespread appeal has transcended its initial niche market, attracting a broader audience, including the masses. The availability of reasonably priced tickets at these venues is contributing to its accessibility. For instance, Regal Cinema offers tickets for Rs. 150, Rs. 200, and Rs. 250. Prices at Sun City range from Rs. 130 for morning shows to Rs. 220 and Rs. 250 for night shows, while Gold Santacruz sells tickets for Rs. 150 and New Excelsior for Rs. 200.
In terms of overall collections, "Obsession" garnered Rs. 18.55 crores in its first week and Rs. 31.28 crores in its second week. The film crossed the Rs. 50 crore mark on Friday, bringing its 15-day total to Rs. 53.33 crores. Continued steady performance could see the film join the Rs. 100 crore club.
According to Bollywood Hungama, "Obsession" is emerging as a sleeper blockbuster.
