Real Madrid Set for €15 Million Boost as Victor Munoz Nears Newcastle Move
Real Madrid is poised to receive approximately €15 million from the potential transfer of former player Victor Munoz to Newcastle United. Munoz, a standout performer for Osasuna this season and a Spain World Cup team member, is reportedly in advanced talks for a move to the Premier League club. Newcastle has submitted a verbal offer, and discussions with Osasuna are ongoing.
Real Madrid is set to gain an estimated €15 million from a potential transfer involving former player Victor Munoz. Munoz, who emerged as a prominent player for Osasuna in La Liga this season, reportedly caught the attention of Newcastle United, leading to negotiations for a summer move.
Newcastle United has submitted a verbal offer exceeding €30 million for the Spanish international, which includes a €4 million bonus component. Osasuna has responded with additional terms, seeking a larger fixed sum and revised payment plans. Munoz is slated to participate in the upcoming World Cup.
Real Madrid's financial involvement stems from retaining 50% of Munoz's economic rights. This clause positions the club to receive a significant portion of the transfer fee should the deal to St James’ Park materialize.
Newcastle's pursuit of Munoz reportedly followed the sale of Anthony Gordon to Barcelona for €80 million. Munoz has reportedly approved the move and has been offered a long-term contract running until 2031.
While Real Madrid held a buy-back clause for Munoz valid until July 31, the club ultimately decided against exercising it. This decision was reportedly influenced by the anticipated return of Nico Paz after his successful spell at Como. Barcelona had also been linked with Munoz, but Real Madrid's right of first refusal and economic rights ownership reportedly blocked any potential move to Camp Nou.
According to Yahoo Sports Soccer, negotiations between Newcastle and Osasuna have significantly accelerated in recent hours.
