Uptown Records, the influential hip-hop and R&B record label established by the late Andre Harrell in 1986, has officially announced its relaunch. The label, which plans for a 2026 revival, will now operate under the REPUBLIC Collective umbrella, with details of its new leadership and artist roster revealed on Tuesday, June 16.
Danielle Price Sanders has been appointed as the president of Uptown Records and executive vice president of REPUBLIC Collective. Natina Nimene will join the leadership team as executive vice president of urban audience and artist relations for REPUBLIC Collective.
Sanders emphasized her commitment to advancing Harrell's legacy. "Andre Harrell built one of the most influential record companies in music history, creating a platform where hip-hop and R&B artists could break through and truly impact the mainstream with integrity," Sanders stated. She added that she is "honored to help carry that legacy forward and support the next generation of artists."
The current rap roster for Uptown Records includes G Herbo, Yung Miami, Trap Dickey—signed in partnership with Top Dawg Entertainment—and producer ATL Jacob. Fans can anticipate new music from Herbo, Miami, and Trap Dickey later in 2026.
Yung Miami's return was highlighted this year with her track "Spend Dat," which reached No. 34 on the Billboard Hot 100. G Herbo's 2025 activities included his platinum-certified track "Went Legit," which peaked at No. 70 on the Hot 100. Harrell, who passed away in May 2020 at age 59, originally signed artists such as Mary J. Blige, The Notorious B.I.G., Jodeci, and Heavy D.
According to Billboard, Yung Miami expressed her excitement: "This is a legendary label being resurrected and run by incredible female record executives. I’m excited to continue my solo career with Uptown Records... Uptown already feels like home."
