Reader protection

Advertising Policy

Last updated: 2026

Fainaron accepts advertising to fund independent journalism. This policy describes what we will and will not run, how we keep commercial content separate from editorial coverage, and how readers can identify paid placements at a glance.

1. Separation of advertising and editorial

 • Our editorial team has no commercial targets and no role in selling advertising.
 • Our commercial team has no role in editorial decisions, story selection, or coverage angles.
 • Editorial coverage is never influenced by an advertiser’s spend with us. We routinely cover (positively and critically) brands that buy from us.

2. Sponsored content rules

 • Every paid article is labelled “Sponsored” or “Partner Content” above the headline and on every card or feed entry.
 • Sponsors may suggest topics; final approval of structure, headline, and tone rests with our editorial team.
 • Sponsored content is held to the same factual-accuracy standard as editorial. We do not publish unverifiable health, financial, or medical claims.
 • We do not publish sponsored content that disparages competitors by name without disclosure.

3. Affiliate links and commerce

Some articles — particularly reviews, guides, and “best-of” lists — include affiliate links. When we earn a commission from a qualifying click or purchase, that fact is disclosed clearly at the top of the article. Affiliate partnerships do not influence our ratings or recommendations.

4. Advertisement standards

Display advertising must:

 • Comply with the Better Ads Standards.
 • Not auto-play sound, expand on hover, or hide the close button.
 • Not impersonate editorial content (no fake “news articles” as ads).
 • Not use deceptive download buttons or scareware-style creative.

5. Prohibited advertisers

We do not accept advertising for:

 • Illegal products or services in the reader’s jurisdiction.
 • Adult, gambling, or weapons content.
 • Unregulated health, miracle-cure, or weight-loss claims.
 • Cryptocurrency products without clear risk disclosure.
 • Misinformation, political deepfakes, and partisan disinformation campaigns.
 • Hate speech or content targeting protected groups.

6. Ad placement and reader experience

We balance commercial monetisation with reader experience. We cap the number of ads per page, never interrupt paragraphs in the middle of a sentence, and ensure articles remain readable on mobile even with ads loaded.

7. Transparency to advertisers

Advertisers receive aggregated, anonymised reporting on impressions and engagement. We never share individual reader data without explicit consent. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

8. Reporting an ad

If you see an advertisement on Fainaron that you believe violates this policy, please email news@fainaron.comwith a screenshot and the page URL. We investigate every report and remove offending creative within 24 hours where verified.

Brands interested in advertising with Fainaron can review our opportunities on the Advertise with us page.
