Editorial standards

Ethics Policy

Last updated: 2026

Fainaron is built on a simple promise: serve the reader first. Every story we publish, every source we cite, and every commercial partnership we accept must be compatible with that promise. This policy sets out the standards our newsroom and contributors are required to uphold.

1. Editorial independence

Our editorial decisions \u2014 what we cover, how we frame it, and what we publish \u2014 are made by our editors alone. Advertisers, sponsors, and commercial partners have no input into news coverage. We will decline any partnership that requires us to soften or alter editorial judgement.

2. Accuracy and verification

  • Every factual claim is verified against the original primary source before publication.
  • Direct quotes must be word-for-word from a verifiable on-the-record source.
  • Statistics, percentages, dates, and names are checked against the original publication or dataset.
  • If we cannot verify a claim, we either remove it or label it clearly as a report we are unable to confirm.

3. Sourcing and attribution

We credit every source. When we summarise or extend reporting from another publisher, we link to the original story prominently. We do not present aggregated reporting as original work.

4. Corrections

Errors are corrected as soon as they are identified. Substantive corrections are noted at the bottom of the affected article with a timestamp and a short description of what changed. We do not silently rewrite history.

5. Conflicts of interest

  • Editors and contributors must disclose any financial, professional, or personal interest that could reasonably be seen to influence their coverage.
  • Anyone with a material conflict on a given story must recuse themselves from that story.
  • Equity holdings in companies we cover are disclosed publicly.

6. Transparency about AI assistance

Fainaron uses AI tools to assist with summarisation, drafting, and editing. Every published article passes through a human editorial review process before going live. We commit to transparent disclosure of AI usage and refer readers to our AI Content Policy for details.

7. Sensitive coverage

Coverage of violence, harm, and tragedy is handled with restraint. We minimise graphic detail, protect the dignity of victims, and never publish identifying information about minors without an explicit lawful basis.

8. Privacy

We respect the privacy of private individuals. Information about public figures is fair game where it concerns their public role; information about their private life is not, unless its publication is clearly in the public interest.

9. Plagiarism

Plagiarism is grounds for immediate dismissal of an editor or permanent termination of a contributor. Every contributed article is checked with plagiarism-detection tools before publication.

10. Accountability

Readers who believe we have fallen short of these standards are encouraged to write to news@fainaron.com. Complaints are reviewed by our editor-in-chief and answered in writing.
