Akzo Nobel Rejects Nippon Paint's $8.6 Billion Paint Business Offer
Dutch paint manufacturer Akzo Nobel has declined an $8.6 billion offer from Nippon Paint for its paint business. Akzo Nobel stated that its existing agreement to merge with Axalta Coating Systems is considered superior to the proposal from Nippon Paint. The merger agreement with Axalta was initially announced last November.
Akzo Nobel, the Dutch paint manufacturer, has rejected an $8.6 billion offer from Nippon Paint for its paint business.
The company confirmed its decision, citing its current agreement to merge with Axalta Coating Systems as the preferred path. Akzo Nobel stated that this existing merger agreement, which was announced in November of the previous year, remained a superior option.
According to Japan Times, Akzo Nobel continues to prioritize its strategic merger with Axalta Coating Systems.
