Google has commenced the release of Android 17 to compatible Pixel phones, making the new operating system available to users starting today. This rollout is accompanied by additional exclusive features, which are part of the June Pixel Drop.
It has been noted that not every feature initially announced alongside the OS at the pre-I/O Android Show is available with this current release.
A significant user interface update within Android 17 is the integration of "Bubbles." These are floating app windows that can be activated with a long press. Although similar floating window functionalities have been present in various Android skins, Bubbles are now an official feature of Android 17.
Other smartphone manufacturers are expected to issue the Android 17 update throughout 2026.
