Apple HomeKit Secure Video and Home App Receive AI-Powered Upgrades
Apple is set to introduce new AI-driven capabilities to its HomeKit Secure Video service and the Apple Home app. These enhancements include more descriptive alerts from connected cameras and the ability to search video footage using natural language, powered by Apple Intelligence. Additionally, the Home app will feature improved notifications via AI and will support energy reporting. Announced at WWDC, these updates are expected to roll out publicly this fall, with some features currently available in developer betas for iOS 27 and tvOS 27.
Apple is preparing to launch a series of new features for its HomeKit Secure Video service, designed to enhance user interaction with connected smart home cameras.
The upcoming updates, powered by Apple Intelligence, will allow HomeKit Secure Video to provide more descriptive alerts to users. This means camera notifications will offer richer detail about detected events. Users will also gain the ability to search through their recorded footage using natural language commands, making it easier to locate specific moments.
Beyond camera functionalities, the Apple Home app is also slated for significant improvements. It will receive better notifications, which are powered by artificial intelligence. A key new addition to the Home app is support for energy reporting, providing users with insights into their home's power consumption.
These enhancements were initially announced at Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) last week. The public release for these features is anticipated in the fall. Some of these new functionalities are currently accessible within the developer betas for iOS 27 and tvOS 27.
