Bangladesh Prime Minister Tarique Rahman to Embark on First Overseas Tour to Malaysia and China
Bangladesh's 11th Prime Minister, Tarique Rahman, is scheduled to undertake his inaugural overseas trip later this month, visiting Malaysia and China. The new leader, who assumed office in February, will travel to Malaysia from June 21-22, followed by a three-day official visit to China starting June 23. Dhaka has stated that the choice of these destinations reflects an independent foreign policy and an effort to achieve diplomatic balance, rather than being interpreted as a slight to India.

Bangladesh's Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is preparing for his first international tour since taking office in February as the nation's 11th premier. His itinerary includes visits to Malaysia and China, with the trips scheduled for later this month.
The tour will commence with a visit to Malaysia from June 21 to 22. Following this, Prime Minister Rahman is slated for a three-day official visit to China, beginning on June 23.
Dhaka has framed these upcoming visits as a demonstration of Bangladesh's independent foreign policy. The decision to prioritize Malaysia and China over India for the prime minister's debut overseas trip is characterized by Dhaka not as a diplomatic snub to India, but rather as a strategic move to foster diplomatic balance in the region.
