Call of Duty Season 5 Unveils New Maps, Modes, and Content for Black Ops 7 and Warzone

Call of Duty Season 5 is scheduled to release on July 23 for both Black Ops 7 and Warzone, bringing a substantial update with new content.

Four new weapons will be added to Black Ops 7's arsenal: the FG42 assault rifle and Gremlin SMG will be available in the battle pass, while the Mammoth LMG and Mace melee weapon will arrive later in the season. The update will also include new attachments, camos, and weapon challenges.

The Season 5 battle pass features over 100 pieces of unlockable content, including two base weapons. A paid $10 pass unlocks standard rewards, while a $30 BlackCell bundle offers additional cosmetics. Spectre, an assassin from Black Ops 3 and 4, headlines the battle pass, with Cipher serving as the BlackCell-exclusive operator. Instant rewards for purchasing the battle pass include a 10% Battle Pass XP Boost, the Spectre Operator Skin (with a BlackCell variant), the "Dawn Shred" Legendary Blueprint for the Voyak KT-3 Assault Rifle, the "Swift Talent" Emote, and the "Make an Entrance" Animated Calling Card.

Upon completing the Season 5 battle pass, players will earn the "Viscera" Ultra Operator Skin for Spectre (plus a BlackCell variant), the "Fission Core" Legendary Blueprint for the Carbon 57 SMG, 200 COD Points, the "Thousand Cuts" Animated Calling Card, the "Strive" Animated Emblem, and one "Gift Card" Ultra GobbleGum.

Limited-time events planned for the season include a Machine of War event and a Treyarch-themed event celebrating the studio's 30th anniversary. A Zombies-exclusive leaderboard event will also be available for the Eidskallen Lighthouse Survival map.

Five new multiplayer maps are being introduced: Jubilee (a new 6v6 map in a rural Japanese town), Frequency (a remaster of a 6v6 Black Ops 4 map), Dig (a remaster of a small Black Ops 2 map), Turbo Tilt (a new 2v2 and 6v6 map where players fight inside a Nuketown-themed pinball machine), and Descent (a new map for the parkour-based Freerun mode).

New multiplayer game modes include Overdrive Domination, where players capture objectives and earn stars for eliminating targets with "style" (medals), granting perks like Cognition Uplink, Hyper Speed, and Ballistic Overdrive. Gauntlet Rush rotates through five modes within a single match, enhancing operator abilities. The fan-favorite Cranked mode also makes its Black Ops 7 debut.

Black Ops 7's co-op Endgame mode receives a new assignment called Burn Run on Avalon, challenging players to a timed race in a bomb-rigged vehicle. Exotic abilities will also receive powerful boosts through rare enhancements found in item cases.

For Zombies, Season 5 initially adds three smaller experiences: Eidskallen survival map, a Starting Room map for Kowakujo, and Rogue Run on Astra Malorum. The midseason Reloaded update will introduce Rex Infernus, the final round-based Zombies map, concluding the Black Ops 7 Zombies storyline.

Warzone will feature a new point of interest on Verdansk called Drone Labs, alongside supply drones that players can shoot down for gear. The popular Heavy Metal Heroes 50v50 limited-time mode from Blackout will debut in Warzone battle royale, focusing on heavy vehicle combat and superhero-style powers, where operator eliminations grant powers like faster movement and armor regeneration. The mode also includes lootable mobility abilities such as Flicker, Kinetic Jump, and a grappling hook.
