China's foreign ministry announced on Thursday the imposition of an entry ban against Philippine Defence Chief Gilberto Teodoro. The directive from Beijing specifies that Teodoro, a high-ranking official within the Philippine government, is now barred from entering territories under China's jurisdiction.
The sanctions further extend beyond the defence chief himself. According to the announcement, Teodoro's spouse and child are also included in the travel restrictions. This means all three individuals are prohibited from entering mainland China, the special administrative region of Hong Kong, and Macau.
The Chinese foreign ministry's statement on Thursday did not immediately provide specific details or reasons behind the decision to implement these travel prohibitions against the Philippine official and his family.
