Dispatch Developer Releases Patch to Address Nintendo Switch Censorship
AdHoc Studio, the developer of Dispatch, has released a new patch for the game on Nintendo Switch and Switch 2, addressing unexpected in-game censorship discovered by players earlier this year. The "HR Violations Pack" is now available, unlocking additional nudity options. While the patch introduces more explicit content and alternative censorship options, some of Nintendo's content requirements, such as the banning of genitalia, remain in effect across all regions except Japan, where full censorship persists.

AdHoc Studio has issued a patch for its game, Dispatch, on Nintendo Switch and Switch 2, which aims to unlock more nudity options. This update follows a controversy earlier this year when players discovered unexpected censorship in the game.
The new "HR Violations Pack" is currently available for download in North America, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand. This pack enables players to view content featuring breasts, butts, and obscene gestures within the game. For players who prefer not to see such content, AdHoc Studio has also introduced alternative censorship options, including a pixelated effect and comedic cover-up items like jorts, which can be selected from the game's settings.
Despite these changes, certain "hard requirements from Nintendo" persist. Content depicting genitalia remains banned, and specific audio from Invisigal's erotic dream sequence continues to be muted. Furthermore, no changes will be implemented in Japan, where Dispatch will maintain full censorship, and the alternative visual effects are not available.
AdHoc Studio provided an explanation for the initial censorship, stating that approaching launch, they faced unexpected requirements for censorship across all regions, not just the few they had planned for. Due to time and resource constraints, they opted to use a single Switch build that complied with Nintendo’s strictest regional rating, resulting in a more censored version than anticipated.
The developer also apologized for not clearly communicating that the Switch version of the game was materially different from versions seen in trailers, previews, and reviews for other platforms. The success of Dispatch enabled the studio to invest in creating the updated Switch version. These new content options will also be rolled out for PC and PS5 versions, and will be available when the game launches on Xbox, though uncensored versions will remain the default experience on those platforms.
