Rapper Drake and NBA star Kevin Durant are featured in a new advertisement for Durant's latest Nike sneakers, specifically the KD 19 "Purple Candies" colorway. The ad showcases Drake in the role of an enthusiastic supporter, consistently hyping up Durant.
The commercial depicts Drake emerging from a box delivered to Durant's living room, presenting the new KD 19 "Purple Candies." He praises the shoes, suggesting Durant change his name to "Pevin Purant," and playfully comments, "'Hey Ant-Man, can you drop your purple shoes?' said four kids in Minnesota... Like nobody wants to see those, they want the KDs," in a lighthearted jab at Minnesota Timberwolves player Anthony Edwards.
Durant appears to appreciate the support despite Drake's exaggerated enthusiasm, stating, "Dog, you wild. These are fire though." The advertisement features Cameo's 1986 hit "Candy" throughout its outro, which includes a graphic that reads, "...Everyone Needs a Yes Man."
Drake shared the clip on his Instagram on Tuesday, June 16. The "Purple Candies" colorway is set to be released on Wednesday, June 17.
