G7 Summit Concludes with Discussions on AI Future and Economic Growth
The Group of Seven (G7) concluded its three-day summit in the French Alps, focusing on the future of artificial intelligence (AI) and U.S. dominance within the industry. Leaders, including U.S. President Donald Trump, engaged in talks alongside top AI executives such as Sam Altman of OpenAI, Demis Hassabis of Google DeepMind, and Dario Amodei of Anthropic. Other key agenda items included fostering economic growth, the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine, and a tentative deal aimed at resolving the Iran war.

The Group of Seven (G7) wrapped up three days of talks in the French Alps on Wednesday, with a significant portion of discussions dedicated to the contentious future of artificial intelligence (AI) and the United States' dominance in the sector. The summit, held in the lakeside resort of Evian-les-Bains, brought together leaders from France, Canada, Germany, Italy, Japan, the U.S., and the United Kingdom.
Prominent executives from leading AI companies participated in these discussions, including OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, Google DeepMind CEO Demis Hassabis, and Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei. U.S. President Donald Trump was among the world leaders present as formal talks concluded with sessions on AI's future and strategies for fostering economic growth.
Throughout the meetings, G7 leaders also addressed other critical global issues. Tuesday's discussions primarily focused on the war between Russia and Ukraine and a tentative agreement to end the Iran war. President Trump indicated that details of the Iran agreement, expected to be signed by the United States and Iran on Friday in Switzerland, were not yet fully public, stating, “nobody knows what it is but it’s very strong.”
Guest nations invited to this summit included Brazil, Egypt, India, Kenya, South Korea, Qatar, Ukraine, and the United Arab Emirates. Following the summit, President Trump was scheduled to make a stop outside Paris for a dinner at the Palace of Versailles before returning to Washington on Wednesday.
