Google Voice Introduces AI Call Transcription and Summaries

Google Voice is now equipped with a new AI-generated call transcription feature, allowing users to take notes during calls and receive a summary afterwards. This functionality utilizes Gemini to process and refine the notes, which are then sent to the user's Gmail account upon call completion.

This new offering brings Google Voice closer to the capabilities seen in the Google Phone app, particularly on recent Pixel devices. Pixel phones already feature tools like call screening, spam blocking, and 'Call Notes,' which transcribes entire calls for later reference. The Google Voice addition mirrors this transcription capability.

The feature, referred to as "Take notes for me" in a recent Workspace blog post, currently operates exclusively in English. Access is limited to paying Google Voice subscribers.

Google Voice provides users with a virtual phone number, enabling operations across different countries without requiring a physical presence. This makes it a widely adopted tool for businesses operating in multiple international markets.
