Guadalajara Metro Area Schedules Road Blockade Drill
A road blockade drill is scheduled for Monday at seven access points to the Guadalajara metropolitan area. This initiative involves authorities from all three levels of government and aims to rehearse coordinated security and emergency response protocols. The drill will commence at 1 p.m. and is anticipated to last for a couple of hours, though the duration may vary by location. Authorities have advised that while traffic delays may occur, the drill does not pose a risk to the public.
A road blockade drill is set to take place on Monday across seven access points to the Guadalajara metropolitan area. The exercise forms part of a coordinated security and emergency response initiative, involving local, state, and federal government authorities.
According to official notices, the drill will begin at 1 p.m. and is expected to continue for a couple of hours, with potential variations in duration at each specific location. Controlled roadblocks will be established at key city entrances, including highways to Zacatecas, Saltillo, Lagos de Moreno, La Barca, Chapala, Colima, and Vallarta. These rehearsals are designed to prepare for potential real-world closures caused by violence, major accidents, or other emergencies.
Authorities have clarified that while the road closures may lead to slow traffic and delays throughout the city, they do not represent an actual risk to the public. Motorists are requested to allow emergency vehicles to pass and give them priority in areas where the drill is active. Residents are also advised to remain calm, seek information from official channels, and refrain from sharing unverified details.
This upcoming drill occurs nearly five months after significant road blockades impacted the region on February 22. Those earlier blockades followed a federal operation in Jalisco that resulted in the capture and death of Nemesio “El Mencho” Rubén Oseguera Cervantes, the founder and top leader of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG). During the February operation, vehicles were set on fire, and roads were closed in various parts of the state and across the country.
