Guillermo del Toro, David Leitch Elected to Motion Picture Academy Board
Three-time Oscar winner Guillermo del Toro and director David Leitch have been elected to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences (AMPAS) Board of Governors. This marks the first time both filmmakers will serve on the board, with Del Toro joining the Directors branch. Leitch, known for his instrumental role in advocating for the new Stunts category set for 2028, also takes a seat on the Board.

Three-time Oscar winner Guillermo del Toro has been elected to the Board of Governors for the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences (AMPAS). This marks Del Toro's first time serving on the prestigious board, where he will represent the Directors branch.
Director David Leitch has also been elected to the AMPAS Board of Governors, joining for his first term. Leitch played a significant role in advocating for the establishment of a new Stunts category, which is scheduled to be introduced in 2028.
According to Deadline Hollywood, both acclaimed filmmakers will now contribute to the governance of the organization behind the annual Academy Awards.
