Hong Kong Offers Property Sites for East Kowloon Transit Project
The Hong Kong government has approved the allocation of three property sites to enhance the financial viability of the planned green transit system in East Kowloon. This initiative aims to attract bidders for the project, which is scheduled for tender next month. The new 7-kilometer (4.3-mile) rail line is intended to connect Choi Hung and Ma Yau Tong, with an anticipated operational date by 2033.

The Hong Kong government has approved a plan to grant three property sites to the future operator of the proposed green transit system in East Kowloon. This measure is designed to significantly improve the project's financial viability, making it more attractive to potential bidders.
The transit system will establish a 7-kilometer (4.3-mile) rail connection between Choi Hung and Ma Yau Tong. Authorities aim for the rail line to be fully operational by 2033.
The tender for the project is expected to be launched next month. The successful bidder will be allocated the three property sites as part of the operational agreement, an approach similar to arrangements previously implemented for the transit system in Kai Tak.
According to South China Morning Post, these provisions are intended to incentivize private sector participation in the crucial infrastructure development.
