Hong Kong Retiree Sentenced to Community Service for Child Assault
A Hong Kong retiree has received 40 hours of community service after pleading guilty to assaulting a five-year-old boy. Lok Kam-ming, 61, was sentenced by Tuen Mun Court following an incident on January 8 at the Grand Yoho shopping centre in Yuen Long. The assault occurred after the boy reportedly threw a tantrum and berated his domestic helper.

A 61-year-old Hong Kong retiree, Lok Kam-ming, has been sentenced to 40 hours of community service. The sentence was handed down by Tuen Mun Court on Friday after he pleaded guilty to assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
The charge stemmed from an incident on January 8 at the Grand Yoho shopping centre in Yuen Long. Lok Kam-ming reportedly slapped a five-year-old boy. The boy was said to have been throwing a tantrum and berating his domestic helper at the time of the encounter.
Lok's lawyer described the event as an "unfortunate encounter" during the proceedings. He had entered his guilty plea last month.
According to the South China Morning Post, the court ordered community service as the penalty for the assault.
