Jason Momoa Requires R-Rating for Solo Lobo Film
Actor Jason Momoa has declared that he will only star in a solo film centered on the DC character Lobo if it receives an R-rating. Momoa, who is set to debut as Lobo later this month in "Supergirl," has long expressed a desire to portray the character. While he is amenable to appearing as Lobo in other projects, he remains firm on the R-rating requirement for any standalone movie featuring the Main Man. This condition comes as DC Studios also explores other R-rated projects.

Jason Momoa has set a clear condition for a standalone Lobo film, stating that he will not participate unless the movie is rated R. The actor is scheduled to make his debut as Lobo in a supporting role in "Supergirl" later this month, a role he has wanted to play for many years.
Momoa previously considered the possibility of playing Lobo when he was offered the role of Aquaman over a decade ago. Following a change in DC's previous regime, DC Studios head James Gunn offered Momoa the part of Lobo. According to an interview with ComicBook.com, there is a long-term strategy for the character, akin to how Aquaman was introduced in various films before receiving a solo feature.
In a conversation with Collider, Momoa articulated his stance on a solo Lobo film, saying, "It's all I want and I promise, I do not have any interest in making a PG-13 Lobo movie." He added, "Will he be part of some other movies? If they want me, I'll be there. But if I make a solo movie, I'm not doing it unless it's rated R."
The precedent for successful R-rated superhero movies has been established with films such as "Deadpool," "Joker," and "Logan." Furthermore, DC Studios is developing its own R-rated project this year with "Clayface," a Batman spin-off horror film. DC Studios also reportedly emphasizes creator-driven projects.
