Republican John Cowan has been projected to win the primary runoff for the U.S. House seat in Georgia, currently occupied by the retiring Rep. Barry Loudermilk (R-Ga.). The projection indicates Cowan's victory over his rival, Rob Adkerson.
Rob Adkerson previously served as the chief of staff to Representative Loudermilk.
Cowan, a neurosurgeon, previously ran for a neighboring House district in 2020. During that election, he ran unsuccessfully against former Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R).
This primary runoff determines the Republican candidate who will seek to replace Rep. Loudermilk, who is not seeking re-election.
