Kingboard Subsidiary to Sell Stake, Raise US$1.5 Billion for AI Server Component Production
Kingboard Holdings plans to raise approximately HK$11.77 billion (US$1.5 billion) through the sale of a stake in its listed subsidiary, Kingboard Laminates Holdings. Kingboard Laminates is a major global manufacturer of laminate materials crucial for circuit boards in artificial intelligence (AI) servers. The capital infusion is intended to expand the company's business and production capacity to meet the surging demand for AI hardware components, amid record-high AI server backlogs.

Kingboard Holdings has announced plans to raise approximately HK$11.77 billion, equivalent to US$1.5 billion. This capital will be generated through the sale of a stake in its publicly traded subsidiary, Kingboard Laminates Holdings.
Kingboard Laminates Holdings is recognized as a significant global producer of laminate materials. These materials are crucial components used in the manufacturing of circuit boards, particularly those designated for artificial intelligence (AI) servers.
The primary objective of this fundraising initiative is to expand Kingboard Holdings' business operations and enhance its production capacity. This expansion is designed to address and meet the escalating demand for components in the AI hardware sector.
This strategic financial move by Kingboard Holdings comes at a time when AI server backlogs have reached record levels among major industry players, set against a buoyant stock market for AI-related hardware components.
According to the South China Morning Post, this move is intended to position the company to capitalize on the current AI boom.
