He also teased upcoming new music, expressing a renewed sense of creative freedom.
Lil Nas X recently returned to social media to update fans on his mental health and plans for new music. In a video posted on Wednesday, June 17, the artist disclosed that he spent a few months in rehab. Following his time in rehab, he has been focusing on grounding himself, spending time with family in Atlanta and friends in Los Angeles.
The musician stated that he now works with a therapist and a psychiatrist, which he finds beneficial. He shared that he received a bipolar disorder diagnosis, acknowledging that he had suspected it for several years but was hesitant to admit it due to concerns about medication and public perception. Lil Nas X reported that he is feeling significantly better, creating freely, and experiencing less fear.
He also confirmed that he is working on new music, teasing a "next chapter" in his career. The artist noted that he has been making music for seven years and expressed excitement about this upcoming journey with his fans.
This update follows a challenging period for Lil Nas X. In April, a judge ordered him to complete a two-year mental health treatment plan. This order stemmed from his arrest last year in Los Angeles, where he was accused of attacking police officers. Officers had responded to reports of the musician walking in public in his underwear and cowboy boots, leading to him spending a weekend in custody. He pleaded not guilty to three counts of battery and one count of resisting arrest. These charges will be dismissed upon the completion of his treatment plan.
Lil Nas X's most recent music release was the EP *Days Before Dreamboy* in March 2025. His 2021 LP *Montero* reached No. 2 on the Billboard 200 chart. (Source: Billboard)
