Mario Kart World Players Express Disappointment Over Lack of Major DLC

Players of Mario Kart World on the Nintendo Switch 2 have expressed widespread disappointment following a recent Nintendo Direct broadcast that did not include announcements for major updates or downloadable content for the game.

While titles such as Donkey Kong Bananza and Pokémon Pokopia received confirmations for upcoming DLC, Nintendo remained silent regarding future content plans for Mario Kart World. The game is a best-seller on the platform and was frequently bundled with the Nintendo Switch 2 console at launch.

Fans argue that due to its large install base, Mario Kart World should be a priority for new content. Some players have described the game's open world as lacking depth and believe it would benefit from additional features.

Suggestions from the player community for new content include adding more racers, costumes, and challenges. Other proposals have involved integrating classic Grand Prix modes, enabling multiplayer free roam, allowing user-created races, or introducing a story mode with boss events. Fans also noted a desire for split-screen online progression.

To date, the primary addition to Mario Kart World has been a third battle mode, Bob-omb Blast, alongside minor setting adjustments and improvements to certain areas of the open world. No other major content, paid or otherwise, has been announced for the title since the Nintendo Switch 2's release one year ago.
