Microsoft Tests Cleaner Windows 11 Search Menu
Microsoft is testing a revamped version of the Windows 11 search menu that removes recommended content and advertisements. The company announced on Monday that this decluttered "Search Box" is being rolled out to Windows Insiders in the Experimental channel. The initiative aims to enhance user trust and improve the Windows experience by focusing the search homescreen on recent searches, moving away from current distracting elements like daily quizzes and trending content.
Microsoft is currently evaluating a streamlined iteration of the Windows 11 search menu, which eliminates recommended content and advertisements. This development was announced by the company in a blog post on Monday.
The updated search interface is being made available to Windows Insiders within the Experimental channel. This move is part of Microsoft's broader effort to rebuild user trust and address existing issues within the Windows operating system.
A significant change in this test version is a redesigned search homescreen that exclusively displays recent searches. The current search menu typically presents recent searches alongside various distracting tiles in the right pane, which include items such as the image of the day, daily quizzes, trending searches, and game recommendations.
According to The Verge, this testing phase suggests a potential shift towards a more focused and less cluttered search experience for Windows 11 users.
