Nicki Minaj recently shared her regrets regarding lyrics from the early stages of her career, speaking on the evangelical Bryce Crawford Podcast on Monday, June 15. The artist indicated she did not initially understand the full impact her words might have on younger audiences.
Minaj stated that if given the chance, she would change many things she said. She expressed concern that certain lyrics could encourage young people to try and change themselves rather than embrace self-love, describing this aspect of the industry as "demonic" for making people feel inadequate.
The rapper also recalled the early days with Young Money in the late 2000s, highlighting the sense of camaraderie and mutual support within the group, led by Lil Wayne. However, she noted a stark difference when observing the wider music industry, where she realized that vindictiveness and financial disputes could hinder artists' success.
Minaj's last album, "Pink Friday 2," was released in 2023 and reached the top of the Billboard 200 chart. She has also become more outspoken about her faith and support for Donald Trump, whom she referred to as her "No. 1 fan." This included posting AI-generated photos with Trump, some featuring Elon Musk and Sydney Sweeney, on X for his 80th birthday.
