OECD Estimates AI Could Lead to 400,000 Job Losses in Spain by 2035
Artificial intelligence is projected to result in a net loss of 400,000 jobs in Spain between 2025 and 2035, according to estimates by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). The OECD indicates that 27.4% of jobs in Spain are potentially susceptible to task automation, a figure slightly above the OECD average of 26%. However, the proportion of jobs facing a high risk of actual automation is considerably lower, standing at 5.9%.

The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) estimates that artificial intelligence (AI) could lead to a net loss of 400,000 jobs in Spain over a decade, specifically between 2025 and 2035.
This projection comes as the OECD highlights the potential impact of AI on the Spanish labor market. The organization suggests that 27.4% of jobs within Spain's economy are potentially at risk of task automation. This percentage is slightly higher than the average risk across OECD countries, which stands at 26%.
Despite the significant portion of jobs at risk of task automation, the OECD's analysis also differentiates this from the direct risk of actual job displacement. The proportion of jobs deemed to be at a high risk of actual automation is considerably lower, estimated at 5.9% in Spain.
According to Reddit r/Futurology, these figures underscore the anticipated transformations AI technologies may bring to employment landscapes.
