Panadería Rosetta in Mexico City Wins Prestigious Global Pastry Award
Mexico City's Panadería Rosetta has been recognized with a Discovery Gem Award by La Liste, a prominent Paris-based global dining guide. This makes it the sole Mexican bakery to be featured on the 2026 Pastry Special Awards list, distinguishing itself among 10 international winners. The bakery, known for its artisan techniques and local ingredients, is owned by chef Elena Reygadas, who was named the world's best female chef in 2023.
Panadería Rosetta in Mexico City has been named one of the world’s standout pastry destinations by La Liste, a prestigious Paris-based global dining guide. The bakery received a Discovery Gem Award, placing it on the 2026 Pastry Special Awards list. It is the only Mexican bakery to be recognized in this category, which encompasses pâtisseries, bakeries, tea parlors, and dessert shops from various international locations.
Located at Calle Colima 179 in Roma Norte, Panadería Rosetta is run by chef-owner Elena Reygadas. Reygadas' culinary ventures also include the Michelin-starred Rosetta restaurant, Lardo, Café Nin, and Bella Aurora, all situated in Mexico City. In 2023, The World’s 50 Best Restaurants organization honored Reygadas as the world’s best female chef.
Panadería Rosetta, established in 2012 as an offshoot of the Rosetta restaurant, has built its reputation on employing artisan techniques, such as slow fermentation, and incorporating local Mexican ingredients. This approach aligns with a broader commitment to sustainable, place-based cooking. Its signature item is the "rol de guayaba," a croissant-like roll filled with guava, alongside cardamom breads, focaccias, and seasonal offerings.
La Liste's 2026 awards program recognized 36 winners across 12 categories in 18 countries. The program was revamped to formally include artisan bakeries alongside pâtisseries, cafés, and dessert bars on a global stage. Honorees were selected based on criteria such as creativity, innovation, sustainability, and community work. La Liste, founded in 2015, compiles its rankings from over 1,000 guides, media lists, expert opinions, and verified customer reviews from more than 200 countries. Panadería Rosetta shares this international honor with establishments like From Lucie in New York City, Gonfle Boulangerie in Paris, and O’Mills Bakery & Bistro in Shanghai.
According to Mexico News Daily, this recognition for Panadería Rosetta also follows a recent controversy involving a British baker in Mexico City who made critical remarks about Mexican bread.
