Pochettino Prioritizes Relaxation for USMNT Ahead of Paraguay Match
USMNT coach Mauricio Pochettino stated on Thursday that all 26 players in the squad are available for selection ahead of their match against Paraguay. He conveyed a philosophy centered on relaxation as a means to achieve concentration and focus among the players. Pochettino indicated that a rousing pre-game speech is not planned, instead aiming to create a professional and comfortable environment where players understand expectations.

USMNT coach Mauricio Pochettino confirmed on Thursday that all 26 players in the squad are available for selection. This declaration comes after months of assessing the player pool and experimenting with various formations and approaches in preparation for the upcoming tournament.
Pochettino emphasized a strategy focusing on player relaxation rather than intense motivational speeches. "In relaxation, you become concentrated and focused," Pochettino stated, recalling advice from a friend who won the 1986 World Cup with Argentina.
He further explained the team's professional preparation, which aims to cultivate a comfortable atmosphere. The objective is for players to embrace and understand the team's expectations. The USMNT is scheduled to play Paraguay on Friday, with kickoff set for 9 pm ET.
According to The Guardian Sport, this approach marks a deliberate strategy by Pochettino and his staff to ensure the team is optimally prepared for its debut in the 2026 World Cup.
