Christian Simpson, a retro gaming YouTuber known as Peri Fractic, purchased the remnants of the early PC company Commodore in 2025. Simpson's stated goal was to continue product development from the point where the original Commodore ceased, specifically targeting the mid-1990s era.
Under Simpson's leadership, his team initially focused on resurrecting the company's most recognized product. They successfully reintroduced a Commodore 64 model that mirrors the original 1982 design, while integrating contemporary functionalities such as Wi-Fi connectivity and USB ports. This revived console has reportedly sold 30,000 units since its re-release.
Building on this strategy of blending nostalgia with modern convenience, Commodore is now expanding its product offerings by entering the flip phone market.
According to The Verge, this move follows the company's established pattern of reintroducing classic technology with updated features.
