Spotify Introduces Emoji Reactions for Collaborative Playlists
Spotify is rolling out a new feature that allows users to react to tracks in collaborative playlists using emojis. This functionality enables playlist owners and collaborators to express their opinions on added songs, with reactions visible only to those involved in the playlist. The feature offers a limited selection of emojis, including heart, thumbs up, ROFL, fire, sad, and headphones. Users can also opt to receive notifications for reactions to their contributions.
Spotify is launching a new feature that brings emoji reactions to collaborative playlists. This addition allows users to provide feedback on specific tracks within playlists that are built and edited by multiple individuals.
Only the playlist owners and other collaborators can view or add these emoji reactions. This ensures that interactions remain private among those managing the playlist, preventing comments from external users.
The available emoji reactions include a heart, thumbs up, ROFL (rolling on the floor laughing), fire, sad, and headphones. While the selection is specific, it provides a direct way for collaborators to communicate their thoughts on song choices.
Users who add songs to a collaborative playlist can choose to receive notifications via Spotify messaging when their tracks receive a reaction, provided they are connected with the person reacting. The emoji reaction feature is enabled by default on eligible collaborative playlists, but owners have the option to toggle it on or off within the playlist settings.
The feature is set to roll out "over the coming weeks in select markets." (Source: Mashable Tech)
