Stern Pinball Releases New Transformers G1 Pinball Machine
Stern Pinball Inc. has launched its latest machine, "Transformers: More Than Meets the Eye," following its recent Pokémon-themed pinball release. This new table immerses players in the retro '80s universe of Transformers, featuring elements from the Generation 1 cartoon and toys. Both Premium and Pro models were available for preview, showcasing classic voice talent, cartoon clips, sculpted toys, and an approachable ruleset with intuitive multiball and mode activations.
Stern Pinball Inc. has unveiled its newest creation, "Transformers: More Than Meets the Eye," which follows the company's recent Pokémon pinball machine. The new table is designed to evoke nostalgia, incorporating the retro '80s version of Transformers, including references to the Generation 1 cartoon and toy lines.
Demonstrations of both the Premium and Pro models of the machine were conducted at IGN Live and Summer Games Fest. Key differences between the models include additional plastic-molded toys and interactive shots on the Premium version. However, all machines feature newly recorded callouts by original voice talent from the classic series, alongside classic cartoon clips displayed on an HD monitor, sculpted toys, and '80s-inspired artwork.
The game is designed with an accessible ruleset and shot mechanics. An obvious multiball feature can be initiated by shooting up the center, filling Soundwave’s cassette deck, and locking three balls. Game modes, which serve as in-game mini-games, are activated by hitting three drop targets at the back of the machine, followed by a large hole. These modes are described as story episodes from the cartoon series.
The game's code is subject to future updates, similar to an early access model, meaning features and refinements may be added over time. The "Transformers: More Than Meets the Eye" pinball machine is currently available for preorder, with public availability anticipated in the coming weeks.
