Cheng Li-wun, the chairwoman of Taiwan’s opposition Kuomintang (KMT), completed a two-week visit to the United States, concluding her trip by landing back in Taipei early on Tuesday. The visit, which Cheng described as “beyond expectations,” began on June 1.
During her travels, Cheng visited five US cities: San Francisco, Boston, New York, Washington, and Los Angeles. Her itinerary included meetings with representatives from several think tanks, where discussions likely centered on cross-Strait relations.
The purpose of Cheng Li-wun's extensive tour was to present Washington with an alternative viewpoint on the complex relationship between Taiwan and Beijing. While the trip provided a different perspective, some experts have questioned whether it will ultimately lead to any significant changes.
