President Donald Trump hosted the UFC Freedom 250 event on the White House South Lawn last Sunday. The event, a $60 million production, was held in celebration of America's 250th anniversary and President Trump's 80th birthday, which falls on June 14, also Flag Day.
UFC fighter Josh Hokut emerged victorious in a cage match sponsored by Truth Social. Following his win, Hokut delivered a speech, remarking on President Trump's decision to host the event. Hokut also made several other comments during his victory speech.
The event featured a 92-foot-tall, 600-ton steel arch known as the Claw, under which the octagon floor displayed logos from various sponsors, including Monster Energy, Meta, Starlink, Polymarket, Riyadh Season, and Anduril Industries. Fighter payments for some participants were made in stablecoins from World Liberty Financial, a company backed by the Trump family.
Around 4,300 individuals were present close to the octagon, including members of the first family, Trump donors who had contributed at least $1 million, David Ellison of Paramount+, and technology figures such as Mark Zuckerberg and Marc Andreessen. Military servicemembers were also among the attendees, selected based on specific physical requirements. An estimated 85,000 people attended a Fan Fest watch party on the Ellipse, a few hundred yards away.
The event included a flyover during the National Anthem by the Navy's Blue Angels and the Air Force's Thunderbirds. Attendees at the Fan Fest, many wearing themed attire and shirts with various slogans, began arriving in the afternoon and engaged in activities like posing for pictures at a Total Wireless Weigh-In fan experience. The original event had been rescheduled from July 4, the nation's actual birthday.
