UNHCR Launches 'Until Everyone is Safe' Campaign to Defend Asylum Rights
The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) has launched its 'Until Everyone is Safe' campaign, calling on young people globally to champion the fundamental human right to asylum. This initiative aims to challenge existing stereotypes about refugees and underscore that the right to seek safety encompasses more than just freedom from conflict. It includes vital legal rights such as access to work, healthcare, education, and the ability to live with dignity.

The UNHCR has initiated its global 'Until Everyone is Safe' campaign, an appeal primarily directed at young people worldwide. The campaign's core objective is to encourage the defense and reclamation of asylum as a fundamental human right and a shared global good.
This initiative actively challenges stereotypes often associated with refugees. It emphasizes that the right to seek safety is a crucial lifeline, extending beyond merely escaping war and violence. The campaign highlights that this right encompasses essential legal provisions, including the ability to work, access healthcare services, pursue an education, and live with dignity. These components are identified as the necessary tools for individuals to move past mere survival and to rebuild their futures.
Eujin Byun, Global Spokesperson for the UNHCR, has discussed the campaign, which was launched ahead of World Refugee Day. According to France 24, Byun underscored the comprehensive nature of the right to asylum.
