AcuRite Postpones Mandatory App Migration Amid User Concerns and Software Shortcomings
Smart weather-monitoring device vendor AcuRite has delayed its plan to transition users from the My AcuRite app to the new AcuRite NOW companion app. The original deadline for the shutdown of My AcuRite was May 30, requiring device owners to switch to AcuRite NOW, which launched in June 2025. This decision to delay comes after users raised significant concerns regarding the new app's performance and missing features compared to the older version.

AcuRite, a vendor of smart weather-monitoring devices such as weather stations, rain gauges, and indoor thermometers, has postponed its mandatory app migration for users. The company had initially planned to shut down its My AcuRite app by May 30, mandating users to transition to the newer AcuRite NOW application.
Jeff Bovee, AcuRite’s VP of product development, indicated that the planned transition “has raised serious questions and concerns among many long-time users.” The AcuRite NOW app, launched in June 2025 for iOS and Android, reportedly lacks several features present in the older My AcuRite app.
Among the reported deficiencies in AcuRite NOW are the inability to rename multiple temperature sensors, report temperatures in non-integer values, and the absence of an online dashboard option. Users have also reported issues with uploading data to weather websites and criticized the app's layout, citing wasted space.
Despite the delay to address these issues, AcuRite has confirmed that the My AcuRite app is still slated for retirement.
According to Ars Technica, AcuRite's decision follows widespread user dissatisfaction with the new software.
